Design methodology as research, or research as a design methodology?

The work displayed in this section is, for the most part, an exploration on the intersection between design and research. It's about engaging the design process without anticipating the outcome, and devising systems that will express a visual result.

These projects are elaborated in short-term workshops for graduate students, one of them almost exclusively academic (not all the participants are designers). The student's get immerssed in an observation of their own design process, by researching graphic conventions (like the watch-face, the scale, the traffic signs), and employng them to present new information. The outcome is often unexpected, as every case needs to respond sensibly to the particularities of specific content and contexts.
